Forestry Commission are recruiting for five Area Planning Advisor roles, covering the South East and London, South West, North West or West Midlands, East of England or East Midlands, and North East, Yorkshire and the Humber regions. The role involves coordinating and delivering detailed planning responses to consultations on Spatial Development Strategies, Local Plans, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, and Town and Country Planning Act applications, advising decision-makers on tree and woodland issues within Area Teams. The postholder will liaise closely with Area and national colleagues, engage proactively with planning authorities and local partnerships to protect and expand woodland, and support capacity building across the woodland sector. Candidates should hold a relevant degree or equivalent experience in planning, forestry, or land management, along with strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Applicants are asked to state their preferred region in their personal statement, and interviews will include a presentation exercise.
