Forestry and Land Scotland are looking for an Environment Ranger to join their Central Region Planning & Environment team, based at the Glenbranter office in the Cowal District. The role is field-based, focused on ecological surveys, monitoring and reporting ahead of forestry operations, covering protected and priority species, designated sites such as SSSIs and scheduled monuments, and input into mitigation plans. Suitable candidates will have knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation, survey experience with species such as badger, red squirrel, otter and water vole, and the fitness to work independently outdoors in variable terrain and weather. GIS skills or protected species licences would be advantageous.
