Forestry England are looking for an HLS Monitoring Project Officer to join the Higher-Level Stewardship project team based in Lyndhurst, working within the New Forest on landscape-scale habitat restoration. The role covers planning and managing monitoring programmes across the roughly 20,000-hectare New Forest HLS scheme, including physical and species surveys, hydrological analysis using GIS, LiDAR and digital terrain models, and procuring and managing specialist survey contracts. The postholder will also lead on data management and analysis, coordinate the Riverfly monitoring programme and its volunteers, and communicate findings to partners including the Environment Agency, Natural England and the HLS Board. A degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Conservation, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology or a related discipline is essential, along with GIS experience (particularly ArcGIS Pro) and a full UK driving licence.
