The Woodland Trust are recruiting an Outreach Adviser – Croft Woodlands (Uist & Barra) to join their Scotland Outreach Team. The Croft Woodland initiative is a partnership between Woodland Trust Scotland and organisations including Point & Sandwick Trust, the Scottish Crofting Federation and Scottish Forestry, aiming to engage crofters in woodland creation and management to deliver benefits across biodiversity, agricultural diversification, landscape and environment.

The postholder will advise crofters, grazing committees and land managers on woodland creation and management, lead Forestry Grant Scheme applications, deliver MOREwoods schemes, maintain GIS mapping and due diligence, run training programmes, and manage project delivery end-to-end including budgets, contractors and reporting. This is a home-based role with regular travel across the Uist and Barra landscape and wider Western Isles, sometimes to remote locations, plus occasional overnight stays.

Candidates should bring experience developing and delivering woodland creation projects, GIS and digital mapping skills, and strong communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of croft grant schemes, the Scottish crofting context, and Gaelic awareness are desirable, and a full driving licence is required.
