Euroforest are looking for a Senior Forest Manager to take charge of a portfolio of spruce forest held by one major client, as part of the company's expansion across Northern England and Scotland. The role is a leadership position working across estate forestry and high-output commercial sites, in tandem with the harvesting and forest management teams.

Responsibilities cover the identification, assessment, quantification and delivery of the full range of forest management operations, and overseeing operational programmes so they meet client objectives while complying with health and safety, regulatory and environmental legislation. The post also involves direct liaison with clients, landowners, statutory bodies and other stakeholders, coordinating established and young commercial crops in upland settings, preparing budgets, annual reports and financial forecasts, compiling UKWAS management plans and long-term production forecasts, programming thinning and felling with timber assessment, marking and mensuration as needed, monitoring compliance on timber sale contracts, managing occasional tenders, and generating new business in the region.

Applicants will need proven forest management experience running commercial forest properties day to day, particularly in upland conditions, and a track record of dealing directly with woodland owners, statutory bodies or stakeholders. A relevant academic qualification in forestry or another land or science-based subject is required, along with knowledge of the regulatory systems set out under the Forestry Act 1967 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as amended, plus UKFS and UKWAS — the latter being particularly relevant to this portfolio. Commercial acumen, a balanced grasp of upland silviculture across the cycle from planting and restocking through to clearfell, and the ability to mentor and develop a team are all expected. Institute of Chartered Foresters membership, knowledge of PAWS and ASNW management, and an understanding of the grant and regulatory systems in both England and Scotland are listed as desirable. Office 365 and GIS mapping skills and a full clean UK driving licence are required, with training on company systems and continued professional development provided.
