
The Forestry Commission are recruiting for a leadership role heading a newly established team focused on strengthening the role of trees and woodlands within the planning system. Reporting to the Head of Planning, Infrastructure and the Built Environment, the postholder will lead a team of five Area Planning Delivery Advisers and a Planning Coordinator, overseeing the Forestry Commission's engagement with Spatial Development Strategies, Local Plans, Tree and Woodland Strategies, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, and planning applications. Key responsibilities include managing delivery of statutory and non-statutory planning consultation responses, building a high-performing and integrated team, developing guidance and casework processes, and maintaining reporting relationships with Defra and MHCLG. The role involves occasional nationwide travel with blended working. Candidates should hold a degree in Town and Country Planning or extensive planning delivery experience, along with line management experience and a strong track record in stakeholder engagement and influencing.
